University of Houston College of Optometry Whitecoat Ceremony, 2012

Since 1952, the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO) has trained optometrists to meet the eye and vision needs of the public. UHCO is currently the only college of optometry in the state of Texas. When UHCO first opened its doors, the Texas Optometric Association pledged $100,000 towards its development. Today, TOA works closely with students and educators, continuing to build on a strong foundation of academic and professional excellence.

Various Texas Optometric Association Board Members are UHCO graduates.  Other distinguished UHCO graduates include TOA and AOA Past Presidents John A. McCall, O.D., Howard J. Braverman, O.D., and Wesley E. Pittman, O.D.
