The American Optometric Association recommends that candidates for laser or surgical methods of corneal modification be at least 21 years of age or older with stable vision and no abnormalities of the cornea or external eye. Ortho-K, a non-surgical corneal modification procedure, may be appropriate for preventing or reducing further vision change in younger people who do not have fully stabilized vision.
